#19 Cherry Creek Forced to Forfeit Season-Opening Win
Colorado powerhouse Cherry Creek must forfeit its season-opening victory over Chatfield due to the use of an ineligible player.
#19 Cherry Creek (CO) has been forced to forfeit its season-opening victory over Chatfield due to the use of an ineligible player, according to reporting from Andy Villamarzo of On3, citing The Denver Post.
The Bruins originally defeated Chatfield 28-15, but the forfeit changes Cherry Creek's record from 4-0 to 3-1 and retroactively ends the program's 27-game winning streak.
Cherry Creek head coach Dave Logan told The Denver Post that the program had been informed its players were cleared prior to the season opener.
The ruling comes just days after Cherry Creek earned a huge 16-15 road victory over Valor Christian.
Cherry Creek entered this week ranked #19 in the T25PS Top 100 and will return to the field this week against Cherokee Trail.
