Millard South won Nebraska's Class A championship last season. The official record is 13-1 because of a forfeit early in the season, but that team was about as dominant of a team Nebraska has ever seen.
The 2026 team Is facing a sizable reload from last years team, but adds quarterback Trae Taylor and receiver Antayvious Ellis, two transfers who are both committed to Nebraska. That kind of arrival can raise a ceiling immediately. It can also create the false idea that two names will simply carry a title defense without the rest of the roster changing around them.

A Title Team Adds Two Headliners
Taylor arrives from Carmel Catholic with the recruitment resolved and the talent to take control of the offense. Ellis gives him a committed receiver capable of changing coverage. Their connection will be one of the most watched parts of Nebraska high school football, but Andy Means still has to fit both players into a championship operation rather than rebuild everything for them.
That is what I will watch first: timing, protection and trust. A transfer quarterback can know the playbook and still need live snaps to understand how every teammate responds. Ellis can create explosive plays, but the offense will be strongest if the other skill players become harder to ignore because of the attention he draws.
