Hutchinson’s 2025 season turned twice. The Tigers beat Princeton in the opener, lost four straight and then won four straight to reach the Minnesota Class 4A, Section 2 semifinals before Marshall ended the run. The final record was 5-5, but the response after a difficult September gave Hutchinson something meaningful to build on.
The 2026 Tigers return the quarterback who has started since his freshman season, their leading rusher and their leading tackler. For a program only three seasons removed from a state championship, that is enough continuity to expect a stronger regular season and another meaningful postseason run.

The Most Important Roles Are Already Filled
Graydon Rostberg is entering his third season as Hutchinson’s starting quarterback. He earned the job as a freshman in 2024 and took every Hutchinson pass attempt in 2025. The position is settled, allowing the Tigers to build around continuity rather than spend the opening weeks deciding who will run the offense.
Kyle Bell returns beside him as a junior. Hutchinson can continue leaning on its running game while asking Rostberg and the passing game to complement it. Both players are members of the Class of 2028, giving the Tigers a backfield that has already accumulated substantial varsity experience.

There is returning production around them. Hanley Neumann carried 35 times for 272 yards and four touchdowns last season. Senior Luke Ostlie is the leading returning receiver after gaining 177 yards and averaging nearly 20 yards per catch.
Hantge Leads the Defense
Senior linebacker Jack Hantge returns as the center of the defense and one of Hutchinson’s four captains. Hayden Benson, Grady Campbell and Ostlie complete the captain group.
Nik Kadlec gives the defensive front another experienced returner after recording 36 tackles, two tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks as a sophomore. Hutchinson does not have to replace its entire defensive identity. It can begin with a proven middle linebacker, an experienced defensive end and a senior leadership group.

Graydon Rostberg, QB, Class of 2028
Rostberg completed 48 of 100 passes for 761 yards and five touchdowns in 2025. He also started throughout his freshman season in 2024, making him one of the more experienced junior quarterbacks in Minnesota entering 2026.
Kyle Bell, RB, Class of 2028
Bell carried 211 times for 1,300 yards and eight touchdowns last season, averaging 6.2 yards per attempt. He gives Hutchinson a proven lead back capable of handling a full workload.
Jack Hantge, FB/LB, Class of 2027
Hantge led Hutchinson with 91 tackles and added eight tackles for loss in 10 games. His production and captaincy make him the clearest starting point for the defense.

Hutchinson will face the same eight regular-season opponents it played in 2025, in the same order, with every site reversed.
The Tigers open at Princeton before hosting Becker, traveling to Rocori, hosting Marshall and visiting Willmar. Detroit Lakes, a trip to Totino-Grace and the home finale against Westonka complete the schedule.

Biggest Question
How many of last year’s four regular-season losses can Hutchinson flip?
Hutchinson went 4-0 against Princeton, Detroit Lakes, Totino-Grace and Westonka last season. The Tigers went 0-4 against Becker, Rocori, Marshall and Willmar.
Two of those losses were close. Rocori won by one point, and Willmar won by six. The Becker and Marshall games were more decisive. Reaching six regular-season wins means Hutchinson must convert at least two of those four rematches while continuing to handle the teams it beat last season.
Bottom Line
Hutchinson does not need to create a new identity in 2026. The quarterback is established, the lead runner returns and the defense starts with a senior linebacker who made 91 tackles. The opponents are familiar and the objective is clear: turn that continuity into better results against the teams that stopped last season short.

I have Hutchinson adding two regular-season wins and reaching the section final. The return of Rostberg, Bell and Hantge gives the Tigers enough continuity to expect a better result against a schedule they already know.
That projection still requires Hutchinson to beat two teams it did not beat last fall. With the quarterback position settled and the offensive centerpiece returning, that is a reasonable step forward rather than a blind projection.
