The schedule gives Irwin County an immediate checkpoint with a game against Wilcox County on Aug. 21. The middle of the season brings a game against Clinch County on Oct. 2, and the closing stretch includes a road game at Mitchell County on Oct. 30 and a game against Charlton County on Nov. 6.

Can Irwin County's offensive continuity produce enough scoring to return the program to the playoffs?

What stands out to me is that Christian Clark, EJ Nelson and Evan Stephens give Irwin County a real starting point. The ceiling rises if the team can stay out of self-created trouble and make opponents earn every important yard. We should have a much clearer answer after a road game at Fitzgerald on Sept. 4.

T25PS Prediction

I have Irwin County finishing 6-4 and returning to the Class A Division II playoffs. I haven't been factoring in scrimmages to the rankings, but this squad handled their business last week in a shutout win. I believe Coach Johnson will turn this program around quickly, and with nine returning offensive starters, it should create a clear improvement from 2025, but the defense’s limited returning depth makes an immediate return to state-title form uncertain.
