8/14/26 Morning Recap: Brookwood Rolls, Roswell Turns It Around and Two Big Games Are Ahead

Then #40 Roswell’s defense stepped up.

The biggest turning point came when Florida State commit Jaxon Holly came up with a pick-six as Walton was threatening to take a 21-0 lead. From that point forward, the momentum completely shifted.

Roswell dominated both sides of the line of scrimmage, while quarterback Matt Schletty settled in and led several impressive drives. Schletty also accounted for two touchdowns on the ground as Roswell came all the way back to win 32-20.

That was a really impressive response from Roswell after falling behind early.

Down in Florida, I didn’t catch as much of Lakeland’s game, but the Dreadnaughts looked every bit the part of a nationally ranked team in a dominant 44-12 win over a solid West Broward team.

What I was able to see though is Lakeland made a statement right away and looked like a team that belongs in the national conversation.

Tonight, we get #16 Corner Canyon at Davis. I expect Corner Canyon to win this one big.

As I wrote in my full T25PS season preview, the Chargers are coming off a Utah 6A state championship and are chasing a fourth straight title. They return 12 starters, but there are also some major changes to account for.

Eric Kjar, who helped build Corner Canyon into one of the strongest public-school programs in the country, moved on to Weber State. Casey Sutera now takes over as head coach after previously serving as Corner Canyon's DC.

The Chargers also have to replace quarterback Helaman Casuga, who is now at Texas A&M. Still, there is enough returning talent and championship experience on this roster to keep Corner Canyon near the top of Utah football.

Tate Patterson, Diesel Dart and Jack West are three of the most important players to watch. Patterson brings three-year starting experience and leadership, while Dart and West are part of a veteran core that should help Corner Canyon navigate the early part of the season.

I expect the Chargers to handle Davis comfortably.

Then we get what may be the most hyped scrimmage of all time when Miami Carol City takes on #14 West Boca Raton.

West Boca enters as the top-ranked public school in the state, while there are plenty of people who believe Miami Carol City belongs in the national top 25 after bringing in a heavy influx of transfer talent.

This is one of those matchups where everyone wants to see whether the hype matches the product on the field. West Boca has already established itself as one of the best public-school programs in Florida, but Carol City has added enough talent to make this one of the most interesting games of the night.

Football is so back.
