Texas Thursday: Allen and North Crowley Have One More Test Before the Playoffs

Junior receiver Landon Dean gives them a scoring target, with nine receiving touchdowns in the November 2 update. Getting him involved would help an offense that managed just 10 points last week.

What to watch: Can Folkerts turn pressure into ended possessions? Can Dean help Walnut Grove put together consecutive productive drives? Allen's scoring streak makes both questions more urgent than the final score alone.

Red Oak at North Crowley

North Crowley rushed for 306 yards against Waxahachie on October 9. Three weeks later, quarterback Jacob Torres barely missed through the air.

Torres completed 14 of 15 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns against Mansfield. Receiver Damarion Mays caught nine passes for 219 yards and both scores. High School On SI reported that the 72-10 victory secured at least a share of the district title. The Panthers are 6-0 in district play.

Red Oak has won its last two, beating Lake Ridge 41-38 and Skyline 45-7 to reach 6-3 overall and 4-2 in district. But the Hawks scored only three points combined against Duncanville and Waxahachie. Their recent improvement now gets a much tougher test.

Senior quarterback Tuhran Square II gives Red Oak a running threat as well as a passer. The team's reported statistics, updated November 2, credit him with 14 passing touchdowns and 74.2 rushing yards per game.

What to watch: Red Oak needs help against the run without losing Mays downfield. North Crowley has to finish plays against Square even when his receivers are covered. Sustained Hawks possessions would also give their defense a break against an offense scoring this often.

The UIL calendar sets district certification for November 7 and the opening playoff window for November 12–14.
