North Gwinnett survives, Brownsburg rolls on a wild Friday

North Gwinnett needed the ball back one last time. Trailing Parkview 55–54 after another failed two-point attempt, the Bulldogs recovered an onside kick and turned a night of traded touchdowns into a chance for their kicker.

Wesley Rogers made it count. His 43-yard field goal as time expired gave #51 North Gwinnett a 57–55 victory Friday, November 6.

That escape led a Friday that also brought a comfortable playoff win for #6 Brownsburg, the end of #35 Lowndes’ unbeaten run and a three-touchdown performance that sent Millville past a fellow Teams to Know program.

One more possession in Suwanee

Christian Jackson helped keep North Gwinnett alive with a late rushing touchdown and a touchdown catch from Elam Rahman. Freshman Colten Coblentz recovered the onside kick that gave Rogers his opportunity.

Parkview had its own answer in the closing minutes. Kevin Caldwell broke an 80-yard touchdown run to push the Panthers ahead 55–48. But a failed two-point try kept the margin at seven. North Gwinnett scored again, missed its conversion and still found a way to win.

For all the offense, possession became the deciding issue. Parkview had survived the second conversion attempt, but the recovered kick denied it the chance to finish the game with the ball. North Gwinnett finished the regular season 9–1 and Parkview 7–3.
