Lake Oswego Gets Sherwood Again, This Time With a Season on the Line

Sherwood has already seen how many ways Lake Oswego can score. In September, Griffin Ellingson caught two touchdown passes, ran for another score and returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown in a 51-16 Lakers win.

The Bowmen get another chance Friday. This one comes with their season on the line.

#50 Lake Oswego (OR), ranked in the T25PS national public-school Top 100, hosts Sherwood on November 6 at 6 p.m. Pacific. The unbeaten Lakers are 9-0 and the No. 1 seed in Oregon's 6A championship bracket. Sherwood is 5-4 and seeded 16th after finishing first in the Pacific Conference.

The records don't tell Sherwood everything it needs to know about quarterback Ryder Lemm. Against Tualatin on October 23, he threw for 338 yards and four touchdowns and added two second-half rushing scores in a 42-23 win. Lake Oswego trailed at halftime. Its defense didn't allow another point after the break.

Sherwood has a receiving threat of its own in Michael “Mikey” Brandt. OSAAtoday's Week 8 statistics credited him with 59 catches, 1,161 yards and 13 touchdowns before the Century finale.

But Brandt's big plays haven't always been enough. He had 126 receiving yards and two touchdowns against Glencoe, and Sherwood still lost 28-18. The Bowmen responded with a 37-0 win over Century. Lake Oswego closed with a 41-14 win over Lakeridge.
