Brookwood upsets North Gwinnett as North Crowley wins top 10 showdown

Brookwood answered its first loss by handing North Gwinnett its first. North Crowley won the top-10 showdown in Texas. And Carrollton got 316 rushing yards from a sophomore who had never reached half that total in a varsity game. Here’s the Friday-night rundown, led by a 50-point response in Georgia.

After a 34–24 loss to Parkview, #60 Brookwood (GA) beat #20 North Gwinnett (GA) 50–24. The Broncos are 7–1; the previously unbeaten Bulldogs are 6–1.
Five Region 7 teams have one region loss after Brookwood’s win and Norcross’s victory over previously unbeaten Peachtree Ridge. Brookwood is 3–1 in region play; North Gwinnett is 2–1. It was one of Friday’s biggest bounce-backs.
North Crowley 42 Waxahachie 17
#5 North Crowley (TX) got two touchdowns and 166 rushing yards from Kiante Ingram, plus three touchdowns and 121 yards from G’yrell Smith, against #10 Waxahachie (TX).
North Crowley ran for 306 yards to reach 6–0. Jacob Torres and Damarion Mays connected for an 83-yard passing touchdown. The Panthers went ahead 21–0 before Waxahachie scored just before halftime. Five rushing touchdowns helped settle the matchup of unbeaten teams by 25 points.
Archer runs for 316 in Carrollton win
Nick Archer scored four touchdowns and gained 316 yards on 30 carries in a 62–24 win over Douglas County for #3 Carrollton (GA). His previous career high was 150 yards.
Carrollton turned a 31–24 halftime lead into a 7–0 record by winning the second half 31–0. CJ Cypher threw four touchdown passes, split evenly between Keaires Miller and CJ Spencer. He was 11 of 19 for 143 yards.
