Three High-Profile WPIAL Football Prospects Ruled Ineligible for the 2026 Season
The WPIAL Board of Directors handed down several major eligibility rulings Tuesday, impacting some of Pennsylvania's top football recruits just weeks before the 2026 season begins. Presented by PA Today.

The WPIAL Board of Directors had a full slate Tuesday, conducting four separate eligibility hearings involving approximately 60 student-athletes across multiple sports.

Among the most closely watched cases were several involving high-profile football transfers. While a handful of athletes were cleared to compete this fall, three notable prospects were ruled ineligible for the 2026 season pending any further appeals.
Players Ruled Ineligible
Jance Henry | RB | Moon Area | Class of 2027
Moon Area running back Jance Henry was ruled ineligible after the WPIAL denied his appeal.
Henry spent the 2025 season at Archbishop Hoban (Ohio), where he rushed for more than 1,000 yards. Before that, he starred at Central Valley, totaling more than 1,800 rushing yards during his freshman and sophomore seasons.
The Bowling Green commit immediately became one of the premier running backs in both the WPIAL and Pennsylvania after returning to Moon. With his WPIAL appeal denied, the next step would likely be an appeal to the PIAA, which could ultimately determine his availability for the 2026 season.
Disere Green-Lindsay | LB | Pine-Richland
Pine-Richland linebacker Disere Green-Lindsay was also ruled ineligible for the 2026 season.
Green-Lindsay transferred from , but the transfer was not approved by his previous school. As a sophomore in 2025, he earned honors after emerging as one of the Indians' top defensive players.

He remains eligible to request another hearing through the WPIAL appeals process.
Tyrone Claytor | ATH | Moon Area | Class of 2029
Moon Area freshman Tyrone Claytor was ruled ineligible following his transfer from South Allegheny.
The transfer was not approved by his previous district, triggering Tuesday's eligibility hearing. Claytor is widely regarded as one of the top prospects in Pennsylvania's Class of 2029 and has already received multiple Division I scholarship offers despite entering high school only this year.
Players Ruled Eligible
Jordan Kelly | New Castle
New Castle's Jordan Kelly successfully appealed a previous ruling that would have allowed him to compete only during the regular season.
Following Tuesday's hearing, Kelly was declared fully eligible for both the regular season and the PIAA playoffs.
The former Union standout made significant contributions in both football and basketball and is expected to play a major role for the Hurricanes this fall.
Robert Mrozek | Mohawk
Former Union standout Robert Mrozek, now at Mohawk, was also ruled fully eligible for the 2026 season following his transfer.
Elijah Hill & Noah Hill | Pine-Richland | Class of 2028
Brothers Elijah Hill and Noah Hill were ruled fully eligible for the 2026 PIAA season.
The two briefly enrolled at Mountain Pointe High School in Arizona before transferring back to Pine-Richland. Although their stay was short, WPIAL transfer rules required an eligibility hearing.
The board ultimately ruled both players immediately eligible.
Elijah Hill has already emerged as one of the WPIAL's top Class of 2028 recruits and picked up a Pitt scholarship offer earlier this spring.
Postseason Restriction
Xavier Harding | Avonworth
Avonworth defensive lineman Xavier Harding was ruled eligible for the 2026 regular season but ineligible for postseason play.
Harding attended Avonworth as a freshman before transferring to Central Catholic for his sophomore year. He has since returned to Avonworth, where he is expected to be a major contributor on the Antelopes' defensive front.
The three-star prospect is currently rated by 247Sports and remains one of the area's top defensive recruits despite the playoff restriction.
What Comes Next
Tuesday's rulings resolve several of the WPIAL's highest-profile eligibility cases, but they may not be the final word.
Henry's case, in particular, could now move to the PIAA, while other athletes still have opportunities to pursue additional appeals depending on their circumstances.
With preseason practices approaching, these decisions will have an immediate impact on several teams expected to contend during the 2026 WPIAL football season.
