2026 Public Schools Top 100 Preview: No. 34 Bryant
Bryant has emerging young skill talent, a clear expected starter in Kyler Shelby and a September slate that includes Benton, Alexandria and St. Frances Academy.

Bryant enters 2026 with the young talent to stay in the Arkansas championship hunt. Samuel Nelson is an Oklahoma-bound edge defender. Tavian Morris and Quinton Sykes Jr. are rising sophomores with Arkansas offers. That gives the Hornets a legitimate young core on both sides of the ball.
Kyler Shelby is the clear expected successor at quarterback after Jeremiah Motes’ graduation. Shelby is Bryant’s returning senior quarterback on the current roster, and the only other quarterback publicly listed is 2029 prospect Judah Summers. Bryant has not released a formal QB1 announcement, but this is not an open-room preview.
The real question is what Shelby can do with a full season at the controls. Benton, Alexandria and St. Frances Academy will make Bryant answer that early.

The 2026 Case
Bryant projects near the top of Arkansas because it is not short on front-line talent. Nelson has the profile to be the defense’s tone-setter. Morris and Sykes give the offense young size and recruiting-level ability at the skill positions.
That is the appeal of this team: the Hornets are not trying to squeeze one more year out of an old core. They have a new group with genuine potential to become the next Bryant team that matters in November.

Arkansas’s Top 5 Public HS Football Programs (2021–2025)
Arkansas is a state where football is woven into the community's DNA. Like most of the country, the landscape is defined by traditional classifications ranging from 2A up to 7A. While the presence of private school powerhouses often complicates the trophy count in the mid-sized classes, the public schools in Arkansas have maintained a level of dominance that rivals any state in the South.
