Carol City’s 38-3 Win Over Mainland Changed to Forfeit
An ineligible-player ruling changes the Chiefs’ official record, while the on-field performance remains part of the football context.
Miami Carol City’s 38-3 regular-season win over Mainland is no longer an official victory.
On3 (Andy Villamarzo) reported that the Florida High School Athletic Association confirmed through a sanctions letter sent to the school, obtained by Rivals, that the Chiefs must forfeit the Aug. 21 game because of an ineligible-player ruling. The report also says the FHSAA imposed a $3,700 fine and included Carol City’s preseason overtime win over West Boca Raton in the sanction.
Carol City’s official record changes from 2-1 to 1-2.
The correction will be part of T25PS’s next Public Schools Top 100 evaluation. No automatic ranking movement is being applied from this correction alone, so Carol City remains at No. 55 for now. The Chiefs still have a 43-0 win over Miami Norland and a 23-20 loss to No. 41 Lee County in their on-field résumé.
Carol City’s next scheduled game is Sept. 17 at home against Miami Edison. The FHSAA’s Open Division will select eight teams from the MaxPreps rankings after the regular season, making the forfeiture relevant to Carol City’s résumé but not automatically deciding its postseason position. (FHSAA)
The available reporting does not document the player, the specific eligibility issue or an appeal outcome, so T25PS is not adding those details.
