Players to Know

Kaeden Penny — OL/DL, 2027
Penny is a returning senior lineman from the 2025 roster and one of the players Montgomery has identified for a larger role. Bixby will need its new line to stabilize the offense early.

Gavin Wilson — OL/DL, 2027
Wilson returns for his senior season after appearing on the 2025 roster as a two-way lineman. He is another piece in the work of rebuilding both fronts.

Connor Arant — TE/DL, 2027
Arant gives Bixby a senior tight end/defensive-line option and was among the program’s Top 100 nominees. His versatility matters for a team replacing so much experience.

Nate Hobbs — WR/LB, 2027
Hobbs returns as a senior after playing receiver and linebacker in 2025. He is one of the named senior leaders the Spartans will ask to carry more of the load.

Preston Carter — QB, 2027
Carter transferred to Bixby from Broken Arrow for his senior season. He will compete for the job with fellow transfer Isaiah Butcher IV; Bixby has not publicly declared a starter.

Schedule Breakdown

Owasso is a road opener and a rematch of the 2025 Class 6A-I championship game. Stillwater follows at home, and Jenks arrives the next week. Bixby then has an open date before the district run starts at Mustang.

The back half includes road games at Edmond Memorial, Edmond North and Southmoore, plus a home game with Broken Arrow. It is a familiar Oklahoma slate, but the way Bixby gets through September will frame the entire season.

Biggest Question

Who settles the quarterback position, and how quickly can the new starters play like Bixby?

The Spartans do not need to look like last year’s team in August. They do need to find a quarterback, establish the line of scrimmage and leave the Owasso-Stillwater-Jenks stretch with a clearer identity.

T25PS Prediction

Bixby will be tested before it is fully formed, but the Spartans will grow into the season and return to the 6A-I title game.

Regular season: 9-1
Postseason: Oklahoma 6A-I state finalist (Have to stick around to see who I pick to beat them in the championship, but if there was ever a year that Bixby is going to get upended, this is the year.)

Bottom Line

Bixby’s ranking is about the program’s ability to develop the next group, not the comfort of returning almost everyone. September will tell us how quickly that next group is ready.
